A lecture was being held this week on December 30th at the Robert M. Smith student center at Slippery Rock. This event was free for all students and faculty to attend. It began at 5pm and had quite a large turnout for the event. The event lasted for about one hour and ended at 6pm. It went over many of the important topics that college students could face that could be dangerous to students. In this video student Jairus Moore talks about the topics that were discussed about student safety on Slippery Rock's campus.
Since student safety is taken very seriously on our college campus this specific conference had brought up many different topics. One big topic was called to do something. It talked about how if you see another student in danger than do not be afraid to be that person to step in and make a difference. This part of the discussion talked about different topics like any form of mistreatment that a student experiences. It also talked about the importance students that participate in sports should do something and say something if they feel like they are being mistreated by their coaches.

Another important topic that this conference had brought up was the topic of conformity. They talked about what students should do in order to keep our campus safe. It really made an impact on the kind of responsibility that each Slippery Rock student has on our campus. Whether its reporting seeing another student getting hazed, or seeing someone being treated wrongly. Our students must report these things because it is their responsibility to not conform.
The conference also brought up the dangers of students and alcohol. They talked about why students should never drink and drive and the potential dangers that driving drunk can have on your life. It can also impact the life of others and no one has any excuse to do such a horrible thing at Slippery Rock after drinking. Students must make sure to have a sober driver or to have a place to stay at if they are deciding to go out.
